We have developed the tandem buddy programme to both welcome and facilitate our many international students' integration here, and to offer local students the opportunity for intercultural exchange.
36 Tandem Pairs in the First Semester
In the first semester we brought together 36 pairs to benefit from this experience. Cécile and Daniela (a Franco-Italian tandem) were very pleased. In their own words:
"My experience in the buddy programme with Daniela is really a great one! We started to meet on Tuesdays for lunch, and then very quickly we became friends ... Now, we meet very often: we go to the movies, restaurant, or even for some drinks together. If she has problems with French, I try to help her. During the winter holidays, we even went for a few days to London together. I find it extremely rewarding to build such a relationship with someone like Daniela: Italians are very warm, and I think this gives an openness to the world, and especially to others, sharing things with people who don’t have the same culture or language ... They teach me things about Italy, I'm trying to let them discover France ... It's like a mini trip without moving from Paris. Honestly, I see only the positive side of this experience, and I recommend it very highly!”
"My buddy programme with Cécile works very well. We meet every Tuesday to eat together at the Uni and then at the weekend to go to a pub or, more rarely in a club. This week, Cecile and I (along with other friends) we went to London to visit the city and we had a lot of fun."
