The world’s largest philosophy conference, the Castelli Symposium has impacted generations since its inception in Italy post World War II. Participants have included such notables in l’Archivo di Filosofia as: Lévinas, Gadamer, Bultmann, Ricoeur, Lacan, Tilliette, de Lubac, Bruaire, Marion, Dubarle, Greisch, Moses, Casper, Henry…
For fifty years, world philosophical thought, and in particular French philosophy, have been sculpted during these winter meetings held every 2 years. This year, l’Instituto Enrico Castelli de la Sapienza and the Catholic University of Paris' Faculty of Philosophy join together to celebrate the jubilee, sealing the strong friendship between Rome and Paris. The symposium’s history will be recounted while examining the new rapport to be created between phenomenology and hermeneutics.
