Revue des Etudes Byzantines

The Byzantine Studies Review (REB) is the continuation of the journal 'Echos d'Orient,' founded in 1897 by a group of Assumptionists.

Created under the direction of Louis Petit in Kadiköy, on the Asiatic side of Istanbul in 1897, 39 volumes were published between 1897 and 1942. At first simply titled 'Etudes Byzantines' (Byzantine Studies) (vol. 1-3, 1943-45), the REB appears annually in one volume. Tables of contents for the years 1943-1982 (vol. 1-40) are found in vol. 41 (1983).
