New cooperation
The signature of this memorandum, performed in the presence of Mr. Shaaban Muhammad Shaaban, UN Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly Affairs and Conference Management, ratifies strengthened cooperation between the three institutions in the developing of new programmes aimed at the specific preparation of students for the UN linguistic personnel recruitment programme. The schools are also making their education experts available in order to fulfil the informational demands of the UN linguistic services.
Shortage of conference interpreters
This rapprochement echoes the official need expressed by large international organisations and European institutions to renew their high-level conference interpreters, with more than 200 permanent staff expected to retire over the next 10 years. ISIT and ESIT, who train almost all French language conference interpreters, are joining forces to face this shortage of interpreters whilst signing a memorandum of understanding with the UN adapted to the needs of the market
Presentation of the wealth of our library resources
The libraries of the ICP showed off some of the jewels issued from patrimonial collection and from the picture library, with the main theme being “Des fonds au service de la Parole et des cultures” (Collections for use by the spoken word and by cultures), at the occasion of the signing on 8th March.
