Registration and fees

There are 2 steps to register to a French programme. Pre-registration is the first step. It can be done by mail, email, by fax or at the office or through the registration website.

1- Application procedure "Pre-registration"

Conditions :

  • to be at least 18 years old (or 17 for summer courses)
  • to hold a diploma of end of secondary education or an equivalent of the French Baccalaureat

To apply by mail, email or fax :

  • Fill the registration form, complete with payment, either of the full amount (for montly courses/evening courses) or with a deposit of €320 per semester session and service fees if you choose any;
  • a copy of your latest diploma;
  • according to your situation, a copy of one of these valid ID documents: identity card, passport or French resident permit;
  • if you are a non-EU student and want to register for a semester course or more : a copy of a birth certificate for the compulsory registration at the French Social Security.

As soon as the ILCF receives the application form with all the required documents, a test notification and a pre-registration certificate will be sent to you (by email).

2- Final registration

The process is completed on a single day (convocation day):

  • oral and/or written test at ILCF;
  • setting up your time schedule with a teacher;
  • payment of your tuition fees (and accommodation if chosen).

Then, you receive a student certificate, a time schedule and a student card.

3- Insurance

If you are a non-EU student, between 18 and 28 years old, registered for 30 weeks for at least 12 hours per week, you have to be affiliated to the French Social Security (medical and hospital expenses). Registration to Social Security is made at ILCF office at the begining of the semester (a birth certificate must be produced).
Price for 2009-2010 : €195

Affiliation to a private insurance company is accepted if the student is registered for no more than a 15 week session.

If you are an EU student, you can be exempt from the Social Security affiliation if you produce one of the following documents :
- european social security card
- certificate of affiliation to a private insurance company

If you have an au pair agreement, you are exempt from this affiliation if you produce an agreement for at least one year.
