Dear Friends,
Since the 1st of September, 2011, I've had the honor and the joy of being the Rector of the Catholic University of Paris.
It is an honor, because this institution, founded in 1875 and established in the heart of Paris in the Latin Quarter, adheres to a long Christian tradition of university education. Today, the Catholic University of Paris presents a unique model in the landscape of higher education: the Catholic University of Paris combines the best of the university system and the “Grandes écoles” * in integrating academic excellence with student assistance and guidance.
It is a joy, because, having spent a number of years working with young people, I believe in the positive energy of youth. It must be stated: the Catholic University of Paris, including its six faculties, six specialized institutes, and its eleven associated schools of higher education, and thanks to its organization on a human scale, allows each student to discover all kinds of talents during their degree and professional programs of study.
My desire for the years to come is to further develop the pedagogic innovation at the Catholic University of Paris and to allow our institution to open up both internationally and toward the needs of business.
Philippe Bordeyne
Rector, Catholic University of Paris
* A concept unique to France, the “Grande écoles” are prestigious higher education establishments outside the framework of the French university system.
