With a joint effort to bring awareness to the difficulties and dilemmas of humanitarian work, students from masters in International Cooperation, Politics and Development (CIAHPD), Humanitarian Action and NGO Management (SAI) and Political Science, Ethics and Societies (MPG) have collaborated with the NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on this project.
The project
After the performances in New York, London or Brussels, it is time for MSF to present “Living in Emergency” in France. A France tour in collaboration with the main universities and student associations has been organized. An event created in celebration of MSF 40th Anniversary.
The Film
The documentary “Living in Emergency” was filmed in 2006 and it features the risky work of MSF recruits. Set in war-torn Congo and post-conflict Liberia, the film viscerally portrays the reality of humanitarian work in remote regions, and the difficulty to provide emergency medical care in extreme conditions. Following an observational and independent style, filmmaker Mark Hopkins delivers a film for which he has been given, for the first time, totally unrestricted access to MSF field operations.
“Living in Emergency” obtained the Special Jury Award for Documentary Feature during The Cinequest Film Festival in 2009.
The viewing will be followed by a panel discussion presided over by MSF representatives.
